Inspiration & Our Story
Inspired by St Zelie Martin (December 23, 1831 - August 28, 1877), wife of St Louis Martin. They were the parents of nine children, four of whom died in infancy, and five daughters. Four of their daughters joined the Carmelites in Lisieux, most well known is St Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face. Their fifth daughter, Leonie, joined the Visitation order, and her cause for canonisation is now open.
St Zelie, with the help of her husband Louis, ran a successful lace-making business making Alençon lace in France.
All work is done by hand in my Sydney home sewing studio, with help from my husband and children. Materials are ethically and sustainably sourced. Veils are optional for ladies to wear at Mass, Adoration, visiting Catholic Churches and at religious processions and ceremonies. Veiling is a traditional way of showing reverence to God and the great gift He bestowed upon women to be maternal and life-bearing, physically and/or spiritually.
